ALERT - edTPA RULE CHANGE PETITION
The Council of Chicago Area Deans of Education (CCADE) and the Illinois Association of Deans of Public Colleges of Education (IADPCE) have jointly sent a petition to ISBE requesting a rule change regarding the consequential nature of the edTPA. The petition (click here to access a copy) asks for a two year delay in making the edTPA consequential, although it does allow for its use during student teaching beginning next September.
Now is the time to take action!
Please email Superintendent Christopher Koch and Assistant Superintendent Jason Helfer at [email protected] to tell them why you support this petition for a rule change and ask them to initiate the rule-making process. The deans’ petition enumerates many, but certainly not all, of these reasons. ISBE must make their decision and respond within 30 days, so it is vitally important that they hear from you now, before they begin formulating their decision. Please try to send your email in support of the request today, but certainly no later than Wednesday, October 22nd. And spread the word; it’s important for ISBE to hear from as many people as possible.
Please be sure to blind copy us at [email protected]. That way, we can keep track of how many people have spoken out on this issue. And stay tuned. The next steps may include a 45 day formal public comment period and an opportunity to attend hearings on a possible edTPA rule change.
